The meeting started with a welcoming remarks by H.E. Al Rumaithi in which she expressed her delight for receiving Dr. Asfour and all the members of the delegation. She also expressed her appreciation to the efforts of the ADBWC and the World Federation of Businesswomen and Professionals – Abu Dhabi in supporting and empowering businesswomen and women entrepreneurs.In her remarks, Al Rumaithi spoke about the contributions of women and their efforts in the UAE, noting that their contribution would not have been fruitful if not for the support of the wise leadership represented by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces; who provided women with all the necessary means of empowerment. Al Rumaithi added that thanks to the directions and the unlimited support  of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), Emirati women, were successful in representing their country in different international events.

The Chairwoman also noted that the UAE Gender Balance Council has made a number of achievements and that the UAE is inching towards being in the list of the best 25 countries in the Gender Inequality Index of the UNDP.

For her part, Dr. Amani Asfour praised the position of Emirati women thanks to the policy of empowerment and continuous support, pointing out that the World Federation of Businesswomen and Professionals is celebrating its 90th anniversary from 06 – 08 March 2020 in New York, USA.

The World Federation of Businesswomen and Professionals is the biggest world federation dedicated for the economic empowerment of women and has more than 110 member countries from all five continents.

Shafiqa Al Ameri, Executive Director of the ADBWC; and Dr. Huda Al Matroushi, Member of the Executive Board of the Council, attended the meeting. Members of the World Federation of Businesswomen and Professionals – Abu Dhabi attended the meeting as well.

It is worth noting that Dr. Amani Asfour is the first Arab woman to assume the position of the President of the World Federation of Businesswomen and Professionals since its establishment in 1930.
